Hi! this is a page dedicated to my art over my high school career.

About me: Hi, My name is Hannah Lunsford. I am a graduating senior in high school and I love music; I play guitar in a band and in a program called School of Rock. I love to listen to emo and post-hardcore music. I love animals as well. I have a cat named Evie and I am obsessed with birds. I could name any bird I find in my backyard. I love any kind of nature. I love mountains and beaches because they calm me down and make me feel good. And of course, I love art. I love looking at art and creating art.
My experience with art:
I enjoy art that makes me ponder the meaning. I enjoy picking it apart to create my own meaning for it. When I first started creating my own art, I was eight years old. I liked to write comics, even if the art style wasn’t very advanced. I was writing and illustrating these comics until I was 12 years old. Once I moved on from my comic phase, I started drawing anime characters when I got alcohol markers. I made visible progress with the accuracy of the visual references I used. I joined an art class at my school and that’s when I started getting into abstract art. I am inspired by my grandmother who is an abstract artist. Some of my favorite pieces were made when I was playing around in her studio. I create what’s on my mind, If I’m in a bad mood, I create a darker piece with darker colors. My favorite way to make art is through jelly prints. Jelly prints are made from a gel plate that you paint, and then lay a paper over it to transfer the design to the paper . There are many cool designs to make with jelly prints; if you’re creative enough. A lot of my pieces on this website were created through this method of printmaking.

more about my art!

this piece was created for an assignment in my art class my sophomore year. It is something under a microscope and while I forget what it is that’s under the microscope, I find it fascinating that whatever object this is, it is beautiful zoomed in.

these three pieces are all related because I created them to look similar. These pieces were me experimenting with gelli prints; and I wasn’t quite sure what I was doing other than I wanted the viewer to be confused. for “Mushroom Garden”, I was going to add a “…” in the piece to name it “…” so it would be related to the others; but I decided not to do that. My favorite out of these three pieces is “???” because ever I have no idea what I’m looking at because there is so much going on. I am impressed with myself that I was able to create these pieces.

This piece was created when I was experimenting with watercolor and painting fruits. I was originally going to add a watermelon alongside the grapefruit, orange, lemon and lime but I thought it would look out of place and stand out too much so I added a purple mystery fruit instead.

this piece was created when I first started trying to create abstract art. to create it, I just scribbled on a piece of paper and filled in the spaces with designs using paint pens. I purposefully put three yellow and black squares with one in the middle so that it would stand out. then, to balance it I put the black and blue triangles on the top right and the bottom left corner as well as the vines on the top left and bottom right corner. I named this piece

these two pieces were created in the same day when I wanted to experiment with gelli print layering. There isn’t much to say about these pieces because they were experiments. I added them to the gallery because I think they look pretty.

This is one of the pieces I am most impressed with myself for creating. usually I create these types of pieces with paint pen but I used alcohol markers, another one of my favorite mediums, for this one. I wanted this piece to look as chaotic as possible and for the viewer to spend a lot of time looking at it because there is just so much going on. this is one of my favorite pieces.

This is my favorite piece I have ever created. It is my favorite because it is the cleanest; done entirely with paint pens. there is a lot to look at here and I am not sure how I was able to do this. I am very impressed with myself for this piece.

this piece was created when I started experimenting with drawing stars and bullseyes as well as lines to achieve the “Frutiger metro” kind of look. I also sprinkled in some of my own designs like the triangles. but, this piece was inspired by the Frutiger metro aesthetic.
